The Client
Cafe Diem was a beloved café in Donnybrook, Dublin 4, run by Mo, a Moroccan chef and host who turned a small unit into something that felt more like a warm cosy home than a coffee shop. The place had a loyal local following built entirely on Mo's warmth and the authenticity of the experience.
The Brief
Mo wanted a piece of content that captured the ritual and craft behind traditional Moroccan tea, the way it's prepared, the way it's served, the culture behind it. Not a café promo. A film.
My Approach
I produced a cinematic short film centred entirely on the tea ritual. The production leaned into close-ups of the pour, the mint, the steam, the glassware, treating every step of the preparation with the kind of reverence you'd normally see in a high-end food documentary. The grade was warm and rich, reflecting both the Moroccan décor and the intimacy of the space.
The Results
The film gave Cafe Diem a content asset that stood apart from anything else on Dublin's café scene. It didn't just show a menu item, it told a cultural story, and that resonated with Mo's audience far more than any standard promo would have.
Strategy, visuals, and an unhealthy amount of coffee.
